Flooring is one of the indispensable basic materials when finishing a home. It creates a strong feeling of coziness. For a homeowner, flooring is undoubtedly an indispensable building material that enhances the warm atmosphere of the home. However, with this comes common problems such as heaving, cracking and warping, of which warping is a typical example. How to ensure that the floor covering does not deform?
Deformation of the flooring is mainly caused by improper installation, temperature conditions, quality and other factors. However, installing flooring is far from simple. For flooring, quality is three-tenths and installation is seven-tenths. The quality of installation affects not only the service life, but also the quality of life of the owner. Therefore, the installation of flooring must be approached with extreme caution.
Leveling the base
The first step in installing flooring is leveling the base. Leveling the base is the job of the plasterer. Even with the highest skill of workers, omissions are inevitable, especially near walls and in corners, so these places must be double-checked. If you don't have your own tools, wait until the laminate flooring manufacturer comes to measure and ask them to carefully check the levelness of the subfloor. If the error exceeds 3 mm, it is necessary to re-level the base. This should not be considered unimportant: it is in places where the base is uneven that the flooring most often cracks and lifts.
The glue in the grooves should be evenly distributed.
When laying flooring, it is necessary to leave gaps
When laying flooring, gaps of 2 centimeters should be left as expansion joints, which are then covered with plinths. Some owners, for the sake of cleanliness, when laying wooden flooring, do not leave the required expansion gaps between adjacent boards or ask installers to make the seams as narrow as possible. This also prevents the flooring from expanding. After absorbing moisture from humid air, the boards expand and swell easily, until the varnish layer cracks. The structural expansion gap between the wooden floor covering and the wall is left insufficient.
